A week after presidential party leader Augustin Kabuya’s outburst accusing former president Joseph Kabila of being in cahoots with Corneille Nangaa’s AFC rebel movement, Eric Nkuba, an accused member of the Democratic Republic of Congo’s military intelligence service (ex-DEMIAP), made the same assertion.

During a filmed interrogation, the video of which was released by the army at a press briefing on Friday, the man presented by the army as an influential member of the Fleuve Congo alliance (AFC) named a number of personalities who had contributed either politically or militarily to the formation of this politico-military movement, which includes the M23 terrorists.

In the video, he can be heard mentioning former president Joseph Kabila, national deputy Claudel Lubaya, John Numbi, Joseph Olenghankoy and Patient Sayiba, as well as professor Bob Kabamba as AFC contacts.

“He was apprehended by the specialized services. He was questioned and confessed, saying many things,” said FARDC spokesman Sylvain Ekenge.

Earlier this week, Barbara Nzimbi, communications officer for honorary president Joseph Kabila, strongly denied Augustin Kabuya’s allegations, calling them irresponsible.
