Judith Suminwa Tuluka: another name to add to the pantheon of the ”very firsts” of the DRC!
Mrs. Judith Suminwa Tuluka was appointed Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo in early April.
This appointment is as symbolic as it is historic in the country of Félix Tshisekedi, because she is the very first Congolese woman to be appointed to this position.
By becoming Prime Minister, Ms. Tuluka enters the pantheon of ”very firsts” of the DRC.
Brothermyephre.com offers you a non-exhaustive list of some sons of Congo that could be cited in this category:
- Joseph Kasavubu, first President of the Republic,
- Patrice Lumumba, very first prime minister of the DRC,
- Etienne Tshisekedi, very first doctor of law in the DRC,
- Théophile Samuel Lusakueno, very first cardiologist in the DRC
- Christian Lusakueno, son of the previous one, promoter of the very first news radio in the DRC,
- Augustin Dokolo , very first Congolese to have his own bank
- Kutino Fernando, the very first Congolese pastor to have a Christian television channel,
- Sophie Kanza, the first Congolese woman to hold the position of “minister
- Joseph Kabila, very first President of the Republic elected by direct universal suffrage, the very first to peacefully cede power to his successor.
- The current president Félix Tshisekedi, for his part has the merit of being the very first Head of State to have appointed a woman as Prime Minister (excuse our humor), the very first to have publicly dedicated the nation to God and initiator of various reforms.
Note that Judith Suminwa is originally from central Kongo, the province from which many precursors in different fields come, notably Joseph Kasavubu, Augustin Dokolo to name just a few.
There is no doubt that being first it’s good but being up to the task is even better.
All our best wishes to the new PM.
